Xperia Z Vs Galaxy S4
The Samsung Galaxy S4 and iPhone 5 look to be completely dominant in this age of the smartphone. However, Sony's Xperia Z has gained plenty of attention since its announcement, and its features put it neck-and-neck with the two reigning juggernauts. But can it really compete with Samsung and Apple? A simple comparison is all that's required to understand why the Xperia should have no trouble with gaining a foothold in the market.

The Galaxy S4 and the Xperia Z

The Galaxy and the Xperia are both excellent phones, but there are a few key differences between the two. Right off the bat, the Galaxy's design is smooth and round while the Xperia is more squared and sharp. The Samsung is smaller and lighter than the Xperia, but Sony went with a larger and more durable design. Both of their screen qualities are fairly similar. The S4's screen looks more digital while the Xperia has a more natural look. Both of their processors are equally powerful, and their storage is also similar. The S4 boasts more software features, but unfortunately, these cannot be uninstalled and take up storage space. Both phones have similar cameras, but Samsung's phone has more photo editing options than Sony's. Finally, both of these phones have an excellent battery life, but the Xperia has a battery that cannot be removed and replaced by the user.

The iPhone 5 versus the Xperia Z

The iPhone 5 is lightweight and durable. It features a four inch screen with a resolution of 1136x640 and has 1.3 GHz of processing power. The phone can also he purchased with 16 GB, 32 GB or 64 GB of storage but does not support any memory expansion. It connects to the Internet using wireless LTE technology and has a 1.3 Megapixel camera.

In comparison, the Xperia has a larger screen and a heavier, more durable build quality. Its displays is 5 inches, and its resolution is 1920X1080. These are both clear upgrades from the iPhone. It has 1.5 GHz of processing power and 2 GB of RAM which both outclass the iPhone's standard options. The Xperia is only available with 16 GB of storage space, but unlike the iPhone, its storage can be upgraded with SD cards. As with the iPhone, it uses LTE technology to connect to the Internet. Its maximum battery capacity is much greater than the iPhone's, but its screen also requires more juice to operate. This leaves both batteries on a fairly even playing field.

Final Thoughts

Sony's new flagship phone is most certainly a contender with the two giants of the smartphone industry. The Xperia has all of the functions necessary for today's market and appeals to users that want a more durable phone with a brilliant display. Like all other smartphones available, it has its own unique strengths and weaknesses depending on what its owner wants. For example, some people might just prefer having a lighter, more portable phone over a larger display, more processing power and more RAM. The Xperia Z is a great choice nonetheless.
